The Math-Power Packets
The Math-Power program uses a series of instruction and practice
packets organized into instructional Steps. (see Curriculum, under "About Math-Power"
on the Main Page). Each packet has from 7 to 12 double-sided pages (5.5" x 8.5")
and is a day's work for the average Math-Power student. Packets are available in
two to three versions to provide alternate presentations of the same material
for repetition purposes. The packets are printed by Math-Power headquarters on
pastel colored paper, each step on a different color. The answer key for each packet
is included.
Special packets are provided for a student to do in class.
These packets are designed to "test" a student for retention of previously learned
material, and for mastery of the current material. The scores and time from the assigned classwork
packet, along with the scores and times from the previous week's homework
packets, determine which packets are to be assigned to the student for the
following week. The Math-Power Software Package contains the necessary logic
functions to make these assignments (See 'M-P Software').
Samples of the contents of packets
may be viewed under Curriculum by clicking on the Step numbers at the top
of each column.
The Math-Power homework and classwork packets are supplied
from Math-Power headquarters. In normal operations, each Center Owner faxes
or emails a monthly order of desired packets. This order is filled and shipped within
two working days. The Center Owner pays for the cost of the packets ordered, plus
shipping costs, via an established Visa or Master Card account.
New packets are continually under
development and will be made available as each new Step is completed. It
is expected that there will ultimately be about 40 Steps in the Math-Power
program covering math from Counting through Calculus.
Math-Power is a licensed trade name of Linear Enterprises, Inc.
