Math-Power Center Space Recommendations
A starting Math-Power Center can work
well in your home (if local ordinances permit) as well as in a church or
synagogue classroom, a community center, library, park building, or in the
library or cafeteria at a local school. A starting Math-Power Center can
operate easily within a 12 x 12 foot space.
Each Math-Power Center is open a minimum
of one day a week, typically for several hours after school. With reasonable
scheduling, 10 to 12 students per hour can be accomodated.
Initially, having the Center open
one day a week should be sufficient, but as the Center student count grows,
additional days and/or assistants may become necessary.
Within the Center, some or all of
the following are desirable:
- a reception/student check-in
area,
- one or more Instructor/assistant workspace areas,
- packet storage area accessible to students and/or staff,
- a parent consultation area and,
- a Center Owner office.
During the Math-Power Training Session,
the details of a Center's space requirements are discussed at length.
